The Inner Life of a School

Becoming and Belonging

I help Waldorf schools and their educators find their unique identity, resolve systemic tensions, and develop the inner capacities that make truly transformative education possible.

What I Offer
Professional Development Days

A full day of deep, experiential professional development for your faculty — drawing on systemic constellation work, Nonviolent Communication, restorative practices, and inner-development frameworks rooted in Anthroposophy. Tailored to your school's current moment, not a generic curriculum.

Full day (6 hours): inquire for rates · Extended day available · Travel and accommodation additional
Systemic Constellation Work for School Communities

Constellation work surfaces the hidden dynamics that keep a school stuck — faculty tensions, enrollment patterns, leadership gaps, parent-school conflicts. I bring a rigorous and sensitive approach to organizational constellation work that is rare in North American school consulting.

Available as a standalone engagement or integrated into a Professional Development Day
Speaking & Conference Presentations

Keynote and workshop presentations for Waldorf conferences, teacher training programs, and school communities on inner development, systemic health, integrity-based teaching, and school identity. Available for AWSNA gatherings, regional conferences, and in-school faculty days.

Topics include: Teaching from Integrity · The Inner Life of School Systems · Authority Without Performance
Teaching from Integrity — Yearlong Training

A five-weekend yearlong formation for Waldorf educators, rooted in the seven territories of inner work explored in the book of the same name. A small cohort of 6–12 participants. Combines constellation work, restorative practices, NVC, somatic exercises, and improv theater facilitation into a format that does not currently exist in the Waldorf world.

First cohort opens August 2027 · Ithaca, New York · Waitlist now open
About Laura

Laura Hayes completed her teacher certification at the Waldorf LehrerSeminar in Hannover and went on to earn a certificate in curative education — the care and support of children with exceptional soul needs — in Hamburg.

What followed was two decades of teaching: class teacher for grades 1 through 8 in Germany, Maine, and Connecticut; world language teacher offering English in Germany and German in the United States; and high school life skills for the Christian Community of Religious Renewal.

For the past four years she has served as Head of School at Ithaca Waldorf School in New York. She is a systemic constellation facilitator, Tier 2 Restorative Practices certified, and a practitioner of Nonviolent Communication and soul coaching.

Having taught and led on both sides of the Atlantic, she brings an internationally grounded perspective and a deeply attentive presence — no two engagements look alike.
